Sudden Rain

This piece begins with a black umbrella placed against a wall. While an umbrella is often considered a protective object, here it holds a different meaning. Scattered red roses on the umbrella, floor, and wall represent symbolic expressions of love. These roses seem to rain down from above as if love can sometimes enter our lives unexpectedly. Yet, humans are not always prepared for this, and like opening a dark umbrella, they erect barriers to keep this love or affection at a distance.

In this work, the roses represent the all-encompassing and enveloping essence of love, while the umbrella symbolizes an individual's closed-off state. This contrast highlights the complexity of our emotional states and emphasizes how love, though often near, can feel unattainable. The piece leads the viewer on an emotional journey between the presence of love and the act of keeping it at bay. "The Moment Love is Sheltered" is a striking reminder of the importance of being open to love.
